Not that I have a LOT of time, but the chance at something really being J-F is good enough for me to give it a go.

I find it kinda hard to read here, tho, for some reason...

Good morning JFZ. :coffee:

The cycling goes well in and of itself, but I didn't advance into the semi-pro or anything, and I'm kind of backing off on that hope. I do still have a sponsor team now, at least.

And hello everyone...work keeps me busy, but considering the reported absence of some people here, I'll make it a point to try and visit.

Though I'd bet you $3 said person still reads here as much as said person can. No more on that topic.

I was thinking earlier that I need to embrace autumn and move on to Michigan apples, Sans. :D

My mom has two apple trees that my grandfather planted years ago. If the spring freezes haven't been too hard on them, we have boxes and bags and bushels of apples around this time of year that become pies, apple butter, popovers, etc. for the entire winter. My son, the apple freak, actually has moods for which kind of apples he wants to buy at the store :D ("I think I'd like a Fuji apple today...") Soon he's going to be lamenting that he isn't at Grandma's to pick apples this year, from what are likely a very rare thing: South Dakota apples.

May I contribute caramelized onion, fig and goat cheese tart?

I had some fresh picked tomatoes last week, Vivi. :woohoo:

The thought of grocery bought tomatoes in winter...*sigh*

I can identify with your son's appreciation for a variety of apples, Sans. :munch:

As always, your offering for today is a welcome addition, Jen. The combination of textures and flavors look yummy.

Good morning, JFZ.

I think it's too early in the morning for tuna, but bagel sounds good. Mmm, chewy bagel. If a circle is a symbol of eternity, the cycle of life, the sacred whole, then a bagel, as a three dimensional circle, must be triply holy. Sacrilicious bagel. Yum.

Good morning, Jen.

Isn't it odd how we have set preconceptions of the appropriateness of certain items for the meals of the day? Is a tuna noodle casserole that different in substance than biscuits and sausage gravy? I'd say noodles are no different than biscuits and tuna is the lighter choice compared to pork sausage or bacon. My sociology teacher said that her mother would occasionally take her out to breakfast before school and allow her to order cherry pie ala mode. How different is that to pancakes ladled with butter and syrup except for the addition of fruit and dairy?

Indeed, not very different. For some reason, fish in the morning seems odd, though. Waffles at night? Sure. Steak for breakfast? Yes. Fish right after I get up? Just doesn't seem right. I'm sure it's only psychological as you say. Though now that I'm thinking of it, I have had salmon hash and salmon omelettes for breakfast, but it's not my favorite thing.

MMMmm, my favorite season: "Chocolate Season"

Image

It starts when you see those little bags of autumn colored Hershey's Kisses in the store.

Image

Then it's Halloween, with all sorts of chocolate opportunities.

Image

Kind of sparse through November, but November is my birthday and I usually get at least some form of chocolate, hopefully one of these ^

Image

Needless to say, from Thanksgiving to Christmas is just a LOT of baking, my favorite being Magic Cookie Bars

Image

Let us not forget the Christmas stockings :D

Image

Followed by weeks where it's cold so you feel justified in indulging in a few of these

Image

Almost as soon as Christmas is over, these start appearing in stores, taking us through February...

Image

when these make their grand debut. Often Easter season goes from Valentine's Day through April, so the end of Chocolate Season is iffy every year. Along about May I am sick to death of chocolate, a condition that lasts through the meltiness of September, and then it's back on the Chocolate kisses. I found some in Hellmart last night at two bags for $4, woe is me, and so there are Hershey's Kisses™ for breakfast today, hence my long post about Chocolate Season :D

Good morning, JFZ. :coffee:

After coming off of the chocolate buzz courtesy of Sans , I think we need a hearty breakfast to start the day, with the last of summer's tomatoes. Autumn is finally in full swing here; the morning walk in was quite brisk.

thanks, Jen :msbouncy:

In addition to the seasonal tour of chocolate delights for our tase buds which Sans treated us to, isn't the scent of cocoa baking wonderful? Very earthy and soothing.

The scent of baking chocolate goods is quite good. I must confess, however, to being a breadaholic. The smell of baking bread, the taste and sensation of a crisp, chewy crust and innards.../me swoons I love bread. Bread, bread, bread. Sourdough. Pumpernickel. Rye. Baguettes. Boules. Loaves. Bread is the orgasm of the food world. Chocolate is mere foreplay (though a chocolate filled croissant is another thing entirely). I will cut myself off now before my moaning over bread puts everyone to sleep.

Good thing I got one of these this morning! (The pretty pink one, of course: Focus). There's plenty to go around, making it possible to have even more chocolate and bread!
